SECOND AMMENDMENT

In 2017, Skyler championed the passage of the historic Firearms Omnibus Bill, which enacted Stand Your Ground protections and expanded gun rights in Iowa.
In each General Assembly, Skyler has supported a measure to put a Constitutional Amendment in the Iowa Constitution that protects our right to keep and bear arms in our state. Iowa is one of just six states in the nation that does not have this protection.
In 2021, after filing the bill himself a couple of times, Skyler was proud to champion the passage of Constitutional Carry, which repealed the requirement to pay for and obtain a permit to carry a handgun.
In 2022, Skyler signed onto legislation that would make Iowa a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”
